Something you might consider starting now, to keep yourself from ripping your hair out in giant bleeding chunks in your graduation semester.

Keep a running bibliography, in MLA style, of every book, chapter, poem, excerpt you read -- both for the semester work, and in preparation for the residencies. Yes... for the residencies.

Key words: in MLA style.

Your future you will thank you.

Dear Scabby,

When I was changing the sheets in my daughter's room, I looked under her mattress and found a complete bibliography, in Turabian style, of everything she had been reading in the last two years. Is this normal? She's only 16 -- do most kids her age experiment with non-prescribed stylebooks? Is this just a phase, or a symptom of future problems with citations? How do I talk to my child about bibliographies?

I am SOO sorry! I hope you're getting through it okay. I remember starting mine before leaving my 4th residency, I was so worried I wouldn't get it done. But then again, Kelly L. never gave me any comments, so I assumed it was OK.

I hope the rest of your final semester is going well--I'm still planning to come up for graduation, though I am not sure about anything else yet....

Oops... Not fun, is it? I'm glad someone tipped me off to this before I started my first semester. How's everything else going? Are you working with Kelly? I wonder how she's doing.

I was smart enough to keep careful records during the semesters, but it didn't occur to me to keep track for the residencies. Somebody mentioned it in January, so I was okay for this past res, but not the other three. Blah!

I've got Jim this time around. Erin's got Kelly, though. I hope all is well!
